ChatExtender is a macOS app that fixes two of the most frustrating limits of using ChatGPT and Claude for serious, long-running work: forgotten context and unsearchable history. It gives both assistants a persistent, portable memory. You save your facts, files, rules, code, schemas and configs once, and ChatExtender automatically attaches that context to your messages so the model always knows your project without you re-explaining anything. You can add memories manually with a click or let it scan a thread and suggest what's worth keeping, and reusable global collections let you pull a project's whole context into any new thread.

It also keeps heavy conversations alive. Long threads that would normally stall or lose the plot keep going, so you can ship a project over weeks or research across dozens of threads in one unbroken conversation, with context that never resets. Its full-text search is the standout: instead of endless scrolling, ChatExtender searches every conversation in a provider at once and surfaces a detail from weeks ago, buried thousands of messages deep, in about a second, with every match highlighted. You work across both ChatGPT and Claude in one workspace, switching between them without losing your place.
